Sliver...

Tangled root steps strewn about
From ancient redwood rites unknown
Bare feet interplayed amongst the shoots
To tamp the pow’rs into ground

Indeterminate weaves against the sky
Of branch and branch untold
Complex forms given to parcels of sun
Whilst shadows writhe and weave of old

To look within the changing kin
Of light and darkness borne within
Lying within Her raging tides
Gentle release Her true abides

Roses, pennyroyal, and periwinkle too
Stomped beneath the earthened dew
To reconsecrate this verdant land
Upon the moontide hour I doth stand
And summon my ancestors before
Upon this brown’d earthen floor
To keep my trust utter spent
Her grace and solemn covenant

A kiss to the moon before the deep
Of deep and revealing runic sleep
I wander within then without ‘tis true
Below her silver and wondrous shew
